In May 2020, the Green and Sustainable Finance Cross-Agency Steering Group was established by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the Securities and Futures Commission to co-ordinate the management of climate and environmental risks to the local financial sector, accelerate the growth of green and sustainable finance in Hong Kong and support the Government's climate strategies. This initiative will advance Hong Kong’s position as a leader in green and sustainable finance (GSF) and help the transition of the financial ecosystem towards carbon neutrality. New financing and investment opportunities can be expected.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong, of which the School is a member, has set for itself concrete sustainable development targets in alignment with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
