Department of Screen and Media

The Department of Screen and Media offers Adelaide's largest and most diverse tertiary program in the study of audiovisual media, which is also one of the most respected and successful university programs in this field in Australia.

The screen media studied include film, television, and digital technologies of the Internet and computer-based media. We offer students experiences that allow them to examine these media critically and to work in them creatively.

Across a wide range of analytical, theoretical and historical topics we examine screen media as artistic enterprises, technologies, textual systems, industrial processes and instruments of ideology. Programs of the department provide extensive opportunities for students to gain production skills and experience in online environments.

Bachelor of Creative Media (Digital Media)

The degree aims to explore the connections between technology and the creative arts and the ways in which digital media is used in society and the workplace. It combines studies in IT, multi-media design and culture, with a strong emphasis on working in creative teams.

Students will gain basic professional skills in digital media production, including the operation of software and hardware, as well as the ability to plan, develop and complete video and digital media products, including scripting, production and post-production stages. Other topics will aim to study these media critically and analytically with an aim to producing graduates with a combination of creative and analytical skills, as well as industry knowledge.
