Admission Requirement
Applicants shall
a. Be Registered Nurses who are registered with the Nursing Council of Hong Kong with a valid practising certificate, and have at least two years of post-registration work experience; AND
b. Hold a relevant bachelor’s degree awarded by a recognised university.
Programme Background and Objectives
This programme aims to equip registered nurses with advanced specialized knowledge and skills to apply a systematic, informed and effective approach to the assessment, case and clinical management of individuals with gastrointestinal disease. Supported by a strong multidisciplinary team of health care professionals, the programme equips aspiring nurses for leadership in the delivery and advancement of gastroenterology-nursing-related care to enhance and maintain the optimal health of patients. Graduates are prepared to excel in specialty areas of clinical gastroenterology with sound, professional knowledge and skills for evidence-based practice.
Expected Programme Learning Outcomes
On completion of the programme, students will have acquired the ability to
1. Apply advanced knowledge and skills to specialised practice in gastroenterology nursing;
2. Critically appraise the nursing assessments, interventions and management in meeting the needs of patients and their families;
3. Demonstrate collaborative relationships with other members of the health care team, patients and their families;
4. Interpret issues in accordance with the ethico-legal requirements for people who are living with a disorder of the gastrointestinal tract, liver or pancreas, and formulate appropriate care strategies; and
5. Critically evaluate current literature and utilize relevant up-to-date evidence to identify appropriate policies, management strategies and education for patients experiencing disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, liver or pancreas.

Award of Certificate
Participants will be awarded the " Professional Diploma in Gastroenterology Nursing " upon fulfilling the following requirements:
(a) An attendance rate of at least 70% in Modules 1, 2 and 3, and 100% in Module 4; and
(b) Completion of all the FOUR Modules. Participants must obtain an overall pass in each Module.

Enrollment forms are available from the website or at CUSCS Learning Centres. Please complete the enrollment form and submit it by post to the CUSCS Head Office or in person at CUSCS Learning Centres together with the following supporting documents. Fees paid are not refundable unless the enrolled programme is full or cancelled.
