Local residential care services have been facing acute shortage of manpower with a high vacancy rate of front-line care workers. The programme ensures students ample opportunities to experience real-life operations and gain hands-on clinical experience through engagement in field trips, simulation training and practicum. The extensive learning exposure will empower students to develop their career or pursue study in the field of health care and related disciplines. <span style=\"color: #b97c0f; font-weight: bold;\">The DCC Programme is approved by the Social Welfare Department as a \u2018Training Course for Health Worker in Residential Care Homes for the Elderly\u2019. Graduates are eligible for registration as Health Worker with the Department upon attaining specific requirements.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In addition, the DCC Programme also includes a Homeform Teacher System.\u00a0 The caring homeform teacher offers guidance and support, ensuring that students experience a smooth transition to college education.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"rgs_section rgs_group rgs-section\">\n<div class=\"rgs_col span_9_of_12\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scs.cuhk.edu.hk\/ftdip\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/why-dcc_en.jpg\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rgs_section rgs_group rgs-section\">\n<div class=\"rgs_col span_10_of_12\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scs.cuhk.edu.hk\/ftdip\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/dcc_qf_cef.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #b97c0f;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Admission Requirements<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination with at least 6 points in the best 5 subjects plus Level 1 or above in English Language and Chinese Language; or<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Equivalent qualifications<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rgs_section rgs_group rgs-section\">\n<div class=\"rgs_col span_10_of_12\">\n<h3><span style=\"color: #b97c0f; font-weight: bold;\">Curriculum<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The DCC Programme comprises 11 courses and a block of practicum at care and attention homes with a total of 36 units. Graduates upon attaining the following requirements are eligible for registration as Health Worker with the Department.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">With completion of Form Five of secondary education or equivalent qualifications;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Have successfully completed DCC Programme;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Have an attendance rate of 90% or above for the specialized courses of community care;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Have an attendance rate of 100% for site visit and practicum; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Obtain 60% or above of the total scores in test\/ exam\/ skill assessment of the specialized courses of community care.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rgs_section rgs_group rgs-section\">\n<div class=\"rgs_col span_12_of_12\">\n<h3><span style=\"color: #b97c0f;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Multiple Pathways<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Upon successful completion of the DCC Programme, students could pursue a career in the field of health care.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Graduates will also be eligible to progress to the Higher Diploma Programmes in Health Care, Community Health and Services or other Higher Diploma Programmes offered by CUSCS. Articulation Scholarship is awarded to full-time Diploma graduates who commence the Programme in AY2026-27 and successfully complete it in one academic year with outstanding academic performance. They will be eligible for the Scholarship at the amount of HK$5,000 for progressing to the CUSCS Higher Diploma Programmes.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><sup><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/sup><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000; font-weight: bold; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cThe comprehensive curriculum covers community care knowledge for training professional health workers to serve the community. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000;
