Course Description & Learning Outcomes
This course aims to equip students with essential ESG knowledge and skills in banking and finance to cope with our world's most pressing Environment, Social, and Governance issues.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
1) explain the foundation and holistic view of sustainable development;
2) identify sustainable business models and financing & investment opportunities for the banking and finance industry;
3) analyze ESG issues in macro and micro views for the banking and finance industry;
4) apply the theories and essentials of ESG reporting and the CEPAR model for practical use;
5) network with different professionals from a variety of backgrounds.

• a 500-1000 words Application Paper (Chinese or English) to apply the CEPAR methodology in tackling ESG issues

* "Certified ESG Planner CEP®" is a trademark granted by the International Chamber of Sustainable Development (ICSD).
* The relevant education programme has been officially approved and registered with the United Nations Sustainable Development Knowledge Platform (聯合國可持續發展知識平台) in August 2021 with Registration Number: 39533.


Being a "Certified ESG Planner CEP®", you can:
1) have the authorization to use the trademark CEP® after your name as a credential;
2) obtain a solid knowledge of sustainability;
3) understand the trend and the state-of-the-art development in ESG;
4) apply the 5-step of CEPAR methodology to tackle pressing ESG issues.

Professional Instructors

Dr. Angus Yip
Dr. Yip is a senior sustainability consultant and banker. He is a Chartered Banker (UK) and a Certified Banker (HK). He has over 30 years of working experience in banking, asset management, and consulting.

He was also awarded a master's degree in "Sustainability Leadership" from Cambridge University, a master's degree in "Management" from Harvard University, and a professional graduate certificate in "Corporate Sustainability and Innovation" from Harvard University.

Dr. Yip received his doctoral degree from the University of Wales TSD after completing the DBA programme. He focuses on research in the sustainable development of enterprises, ESG reports of listed companies, and the provision of related consulting services.


Dr. Mike Hui
Dr. Hui is an alumnus of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, holds a Master of Finance from CUHK, and has a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification.

With more than 20 years of teaching and consulting experience, he has mainly taught the examination courses of "Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)" and "Certified Financial Planner CFP" for many years.

Dr. Hui also provides professional customized analysis, management, and training services for banks and financial institutions. In recent years, he has also taught ESG courses in colleges and professional institutions and is committed to researching fields related to ESG investment.

He completed the DBA programme and received a doctoral degree from the University of Wales TSD. His thesis topic and research interests are also about ESG Investments.

Useful e-Learning Platform: personalized Moodle account

Moodle is a user-friendly Learning Management System. Students who successfully enrolled in this particular course will be eligible to use it for free.

Students can access all the teaching materials and submit assignments on Moodle. Before the commencement of the course, an email with the private login details will be automatically generated by the IT system and sent to each qualified student.*

Eligible applicants may apply for reimbursement of relevant fees upon successful completion of Eligible Programmes:
- subject to a ceiling of HK$10,000 and other conditions
- an eligible applicant may claim up to 80% of the reimbursable fee of each successfully completed eligible programme once
- applicants who are full-time students in relevant discipline during the whole period of the eligible programme are eligible to claim up to 100%
