"ESG Series: Sustainable Banking and Finance" is offered in collaboration with the School of Continuing and Professional Studies of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUSCS) and The International Chamber of Sustainable Development (ICSD).

Upon completing the course and achieving a pass on the assignment, participants will be eligible to apply for the Certificate of Completion from CUSCS. Furthermore, participants will be eligible for ICSD membership and apply for the credential of Certified ESG Planner CEP®. (administration and membership fee applies).

Certified ESG Planner CEP® is granted by ICSD and registered with the United Nations SDGs Knowledge Platform. (Registration No.: 39533). This designation aims to equip students with essential knowledge and skills to cope with our world's most pressing ESG issues. CEP® signature CEPAR 5-step methodology to tackle ESG issues:

Being a Certified ESG Planner CEP®, one can:
1) have the authorization to use the trademark CEP® after your name as a credential;
2) obtain a solid knowledge of sustainability;
3) understand the trend and the state-of-the-art development in ESG;
4) apply 5-step CEPAR to tackle pressing ESG issues.

Module 4.2: Risk-based approach to sustainable lending - a micro view

• Risk consideration demonstrated via green finance projects
• Lending covenants for ESG green loans
• Case study: Structure of green bonds and green loans

Module 5: Sustainable and responsible investments, and CEPAR methodology

• Historical and development in sustainable and responsible investments
• Strategies and performance of sustainable and responsible mutual funds
• Sustainable and responsible mutual funds in Hong Kong
• CEPAR model and application


• Attendance rate of 70% or above
• A 500-1000 words Application Paper (Chinese or English) to apply the CEPAR methodology in tackling ESG issues

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
1) explain the foundation and holistic view of sustainable development;
2) identify sustainable business models and financing & investment opportunities for the banking and finance industry;
3) analyze ESG issues in macro and micro views for the banking and finance industry;

Mr. Angus Yip
Mr. Yip is a senior sustainability consultant and banker. He is a Chartered Banker (UK) and a Certified Banker (HK). He has over 30 years of working experience in banking, asset management, and consulting. Mr. Yip was also awarded a master's degree in "Sustainability Leadership" from Cambridge University, a master's degree in "Management" from Harvard University, and a professional graduate certificate in "Corporate Sustainability and Innovation" from Harvard University.

Mr. Yip focuses on research in the sustainable development of enterprises, ESG reports of listed companies, and the provision of related consulting services

Mr. Mike Hui
Mr. Hui is an alumnus of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, holds a Master of Finance from CUHK, and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification. With more than 20 years of teaching and consulting experience, he has mainly taught the examination courses of "Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and "Certified Financial Planner CFP- for many years.

Mr. Hui also provides professional customized analysis, management, and training services for banks and financial institutions. In recent years, he has also taught ESG courses in colleges and professional institutions and is committed to researching fields related to ESG investment.
