With respect to the new syllabus starting from 2009, this course is designed for advanced students who want to have an in-depth music theory/analysis study.
In this course, students will learn: - Analytical concepts and procedures - Extensive knowledge of all periods of musical history in the Western arts tradition - An in-depth understanding, based on a set work, of the historical development of a particular genre.
Through studying the selected set work, music theory/analysis and music history of all periods, students will develop analytical and writing skills, and have a thorough understanding of the development of music in historical context. Hence, they are equipped for the examination.
Music selected for the course/examination: Mozart's Serenade in B-Flat Major, K. 361 (370a), "Gran Partita" (Eulenberg ETP 100)
Prerequisites: Trinity Guildhall Grade 8 in Music Theory (Literacy) or an equivalent qualification (for details, see the syllabus from the Trinity Guildhall Examinations)
