SCS Cash Unit Scheme (CATS)
To encourage students pursuing continuing studies, SCS has introduced an incentive scheme - "SCS Cash Unit Scheme (CATS)". Under this scheme, students enroling in SCS courses will be granted cash units which they can use to partially pay their course fees of future SCS enrolments.
How to Earn Cash Units
Starting from 2008 Spring Term, i.e. 18 December 2007, and until further notice, students who apply for SCS courses earn cash units on every dollar of course fee paid. Their cash units will be validated upon course confirmation. After validation, students can transform cash units into rebates on tuition fee, with every 100 cash units fully earned being equivalent to HK$1 rebate for next or subsequent course enrolment*. The earning rates of cash unit for different categories of students are as follows:

* Cash units of less than 100, which are insufficient for rebating a full HK$1, may be accumulated; but have to be used before the expiry date.
How to Use Cash Units
On enrolment, the cash units to be earned will initially be shown on students' receipts. These cash units need to be validated or confirmed earned upon course commencement. Students can then opt for the timing in using the cash units for tuition fee rebates or accumulate the cash units for later use, subject to the units are still valid (see expiry period below). The cash units earned from enroling in a certain course / programme can only be used for enrolment of another course / programme of a different course code.
Exception
CATS is designed to encourage taking part-time general courses and award-bearing programmes solely offered by SCS. In other words, the cash units cannot be rebated in the enrolment of full-time SCS programmes, corporate training programmes or programmes jointly offered by SCS in collaboration with local organizations, overseas and Mainland universities.
Expiry of Cash Units
Cash units are valid for 3 years, counting from the effective date of earning. The units are neither transferable nor refundable as cash value.
Adjustments to Cash Unit Balance
The calculation of cash unit is exclusively based on the record of SCS and subject to SCS's final decision in case of any dispute. SCS also reserves the right to interpret and revise the terms and conditions of the Scheme without prior notice.
SCS will make necessary cash unit adjustments in the event of refund or course cancellation. If in the unlikely event of students having a small negative cash unit balance, it may be carried forward to students¡¦ future enrolment so that the outstanding amount can be settled in the next transaction. If the negative CATS balance is equivalent to an amount of HK$30 or more, students will be requested to settle by cheque.
