Programme Objectives

The health products industry is a booming industry due to the increase in health awareness of the general population.  The number of health products available is immense: different brands with the same function; different products with the same function. With so many choices, it takes more than a discerning eye to make the right choice.

The health products covered in this programme will include Chinese proprietary medicine, over-the-counter pharmaceutical products categorized as Part II Poison and Non-poison, natural health products and nutritional products.  These are products that consumers can easily obtain from the shelf.

The objectives are to train those working in the health products industry. The programme is aimed at:
equipping students with basic knowledge of nutrition and science that will enable them to develop careers in the health products industry or to pursue further education;
enhancing students' skills in making sales to retailers and consumers respectively;
developing students' knowledge of marketing to different sectors;
enabling students to understand the management of a health products company;
equipping students with ethics in business dealings; and
encouraging students to take a role in health promotion.
