Programme Objectives
The major objective of the programme is to train Japanese specialists for the private and public sectors in Hong Kong and China. The programme will endeavour to meet the needs of the community and equip students for further higher education and/or employment in the related subject area. It is anticipated that participants of this programme will:

enhance the language skills in Japanese and English. |

enhance problem-solving skills along with knowledge and ability through individual or collective task works. |

Programme Structure
This programme will be offered on a full-time basis. The normal duration will be three years for Form 5 entrants, and two years for Form 7 entrants.
The programme is based on a system of units of credit. For graduation:
1. Form 5 entrants have to earn at least 90 credit units from the programme;
2. Form 7 entrants have to earn at least 72 credit units from the programme.

Minimum Admission Requirements
The 3-year Programme
Applicant should fulfill either one of the following:
five passes which include Level 2 / Grade E in Chinese Language and English Language in the HKCEE, or completion of Project Yi Jin, or equivalent qualification; or
be mature students at the age of 21 or above. (Applicants may be required to sit for an entrance test and required to attend an interview.)
The 2-year programme
Applicant should fulfill either one of the following:
pass in AS Level Use of English and any other one AS Level or A Level subject, or completion of a Pre-Associate Degree programme, plus the minimum admission requirement of the 3-year programme, or equivalent qualification; or
be mature students at the age of 21 or above. (Applicants may be required to sit for an entrance test and required to attend an interview.)
Acceptance will be subject to the decision of the selection committee.

General Information
Mode of Delivery
This is a taught programme. Some modules will be supplemented by on-line materials whenever appropriate. Homework and course materials will be another important means to help students to acquire the language skills.
Medium of Instruction
Teaching activities will be conducted in Japanese, Chinese (Cantonese), and English as deemed appropriate. Learning materials will be in Japanese, English, and Chinese as deemed appropriate.
Assessment Methods
The performance of participants is monitored and assessed by a variety of assessment methods, such as projects, class participation, assignments, tests and examinations.
Award of Diploma
To qualify for the Higher Diploma awarded by the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, a participant must
have met the 70% attendance requirement of each module; and
have an overall pass for each module of the programme.
