Programme Structure
The programme will be offered on a full-time basis. The normal duration of study for full-time students will be three years for Form 5 or equivalent entrants, and two years for Form 7 or equivalent entrants. Full-time students will normally attend classes in the mornings and afternoons on weekdays and / or mornings on Saturdays.
There are eight areas of modules, namely Language, Fine Arts & Graphic Design, Fashion Design Studio, Computer Arts, Fashion & Textile, Fashion Application & Management, Skills & Training, and Portfolio Production & Fashion Show. The programme covers all levels and disciplines involved in fashion design and product development. Curriculum is designed in an integrated and multidisciplinary manner with emphasis on both theoretical knowledge and technical skills practice. Students begin with basic training and then proceed to advanced and professional education.
The 3-year programme
The 3-year programme consists of 36 modules of 1350 contact hours in total (90 credit units).
The 2-year programme
The 2-year programme consists of 28 modules of 1065 contact hours in total (71 credit units).

Minimum Admission Requirements
The 3-year programme
Applicant should fulfill the following:
five passes which include Level 2 / Grade E in Chinese Language and English Language in the HKCEE, or completion of Project Yi Jin, or equivalent qualification.
The 2-year programme
Applicant should fulfill the following:
pass in one A Level or two AS Level subjects, or completion of a Pre-Associate Degree programme, plus the minimum admission requirement of the 3-year programme, or equivalent qualification.
Mature applicants at the age of 21 or above who do not meet the minimum admission requirements specified above but possess demonstrated abilities to pursue the programme are eligible to apply for admission.
Each applicant is required to submit a portfolio (if any) and attend an interview. Acceptance will be subject to the decision of the selection committee.

General Information
Mode of Delivery
The Programme will be delivered mainly by face-to-face instruction. A variety of learning formats will also be used to stimulate dynamic interaction between students.
Medium of Instruction
Teaching activities will be conducted in English, Cantonese and Putonghua as deemed appropriate. Learning materials will be in English and Chinese as deemed appropriate.
Assessment Methods
Performance of students is monitored and assessed on a continuous basis using a variety of assessment tools, such as projects, classroom participation, assignments and final examination.
Award of Diploma
The performance of participants will be assessed by means of class participation, continuous assessments, assignments and examinations.
To qualify for the Higher Diploma in Fashion Design and Product Development awarded by the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, CUHK, students must:
Have an attendance rate of at least 70% for each module; and
Pass the assessment of each module.
