Good communication and rapid information exchange are keys to success for a renowned international city like Hong Kong. There has been great demand for journalists and communication specialists from local and foreign newspaper/ magazine companies as well as news agencies.

The Programme seeks to equip students with the essential knowledge in journalism and language skills so that they can pursue their career in journalism/ communication field or proceed to further studies. The curriculum covers both theories and substantial practical training whereby students will be trained to develop their sense of professional ethics and social responsibility.

Graduates of this Programme can meet the standards in diverse workplace settings and are well-prepared for careers as reporters and editors in both the public and the private sectors. They may take up other positions such as advertising agents, administrators, and public relations officers.

The Objectives of this Programme are: To enhance the language skills of the students in both Chinese and English in order to meet the standards required in workplace; To develop student's ability to work in an independent and self-supportive way through individual or collective task works; To equip students with essential knowledge in journalism for career development and further study; To enable students to acquire an analytical and critical ability to study journalism issues; and To equip students with a strong sense of professional ethics, social responsibility and commitment.
