Professor Norman Amundson

Professor in Counselling Psychology, Faculty of Education, University of British Columbia, Canada

Prof. Norman Amundson received his Ph.D degree from the University of Alberta. His research interests centre on career and cross-cultural counseling with a more dynamic and metaphoric experiential approach (active engagement).

Prof. Amundson has over 40 years of experience working in the career development field. He is the author of many professional articles and has also written a number of books, including Active Engagement (Winner of the Best Book Award by the Canadian Counselling Association); The Essential Elements of Career Counseling; The Physics of Living; and several career workbooks such as Career Pathways, Guiding Circles; and CareerScope. His books have been translated into 15 different languages. He has given numerous workshops and seminars and acted as keynote speakers at many national and international conferences.  

Prof. Amundson has received awards from many associations, including National Career Development Association, National Employment Counseling Association, Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, British Columbia Career Management Association, Canadian Education and Research Institute for Counselling, and Swedish Career Development Association.

Professor Leung Seung Ming Alvin

Dean of Faculty of Education and Professor, Department of Educational Psychology, The Chinese University of Hong Kong

Prof. Leung received his B.A. degree in Psychology and his M.S. and Ph.D degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a licensed psychologist of Texas, U.S.A. He had served as a faculty member in the counseling psychology programs at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Houston.

Prof. Leung is the Chief Principal Investigator of the CLAP (Career and Life Adventure Planning) for Youth @JC Project initiated and funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.

Prof. Leung has published extensively in career development, career assessment, and cross-cultural counseling. In addition to his research, he has been actively involved in editorial work. He was the Associate Editor of The Counseling Psychologist, the official journal of the counseling psychology division of the American Psychological Association. He is currently the editor of Asian Journal of Counselling, and is on the editorial board of International Journal for the Advancement of Counselling and International Journal for Educational and Vocational Guidance.

Dr. Ella Chan

Director, School of Continuing and Professional Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong

Dr. Ella Chan received her Diploma of Education, Master of Education degree and Doctor of Education degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She continued her counselling training in Gestalt therapy at the Gestalt Institute of Toronto while serving at the North York Board of Education in Canada.

Dr. Chan is a credentialed Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) and a certified GCDF Trainer by National Board of Certified Counsellors. Her field of expertise and research interest includes psychological counselling, career education and counselling, and teacher education.

Dr. Chan's career has traversed a variety of roles as teacher, teacher trainer, counselling psychologist, and educator- administrator. Besides her successive directorships with two major providers for continuing education in Hong Kong, Dr. Chan is a Fellow, an Approved Supervisor and Certified Counsellor of The Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association. She also serves as Board Chair and member of secondary schools and seminary.
