Course Overview
Through lecture, group discussion and experience sharing, this course will stimulate students’ personal and professional development by self-exploration exercises. “The GCDF as a person” and “the GCDF as a professional” are the major themes for class discussion. The impact of Family Constellation and Early Recollection to the participants will be explored to enhance students’ awareness on issues related to personal development and their role of a Global Career Development Facilitator.

 

Intended Learning Outcomes
Class discussions and the self-exploration exercises are designed to promote self-awareness of students. After the completion of the course, students are expected to:
1. point out the importance and significance of self-awareness both at a personal and professional level,
2. explore personal issues and experiences to understand the impact of Family Constellation and Early Recollection on themselves, and
3. gain insights about self in terms of personal values, life goals and life style which may further inform professional practice as a Global Career Development Facilitator.

 

The Instructor
Professor Patrick Lau was formerly Associate Professor of Educational Psychology Department at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has been involved in teacher-education and professional counselling programmes for more than 25 years. His teaching areas include Counselling, School Guidance and related courses at various higher degree levels while his research work focuses on teacher wellness and burnout, comprehensive school guidance programmes, students’ life skills and talents development, positive youth development and career and life planning of adolescents. Professor Lau is also Fellow, Certified Counsellor and Approved Supervisor of Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association.

2. Trainees who have completed the 6-day face-to-face GCDF training

 

Teaching Medium
Cantonese and English

 

Continuing Development Unit (CDU)
This course is recognized as a CDU course offered by CUSCS for the Hong Kong Programme. Certified GCDFs will be awarded 12 CDUs upon completion of the course.

GCDF trainees who are not yet certified can claim the CDUs after the professional credential is gained.

Note: Certified GCDFs are required to fulfill 75 CDUs within 5 years for renewal of the professional credential. Check the CDU Recording System for Certified GCDFs for more details.

 

Enrolment and Payment
1. Enrolment must be made using the below online registration button. Seats are limited and offered on a first come, first served basis.

2. Send a crossed cheque in the amount of HK$6,000 made payable to "The Chinese University of Hong Kong". Mark the name of the participant and the course code (183-G00006-01) on the back of the cheque.

3. To secure your seat, your cheque must reach the following address no later than 30 October 2018. Otherwise, your seat will be released to those on the waiting list.
