"Professional Development" is the responsibility of both employers and employees. The Professional Development Academy holds two major keys to career success in this respect: professional designation and corporate training.
For staff members who would like to increase their competitiveness, we organise programmes designed to prepare for professional examinations such as the Licensing Examination for Securities and Futures Intermediaries (HKSI), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Examination (ACCA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants Examination (CIMA) and National Vocational Qualifi cations Examination (NVQ), amongst others. These can take the form of either preparatory courses or award-bearing programmes. Besides we offer professional development programmes, especially in the areas of health care; food safety; estate agency, for professionals who aim to have career advancement in their own fields. In both cases, we take pride in our strong programme management team, the well-qualified pool of professional trainers and the well-established quality assurance system at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
We have long known the importance of training as a staff development tool. More recently, employers have become increasingly aware of its benefit as a staff engagement tool. This is why more and more organisations are investing in training and development. We serve employers through providing professional training that caters to the basic yet important learning principles of needs-based pre-training assessment, well-suited in-training practices and tailored post-training interventions.
With the rich academic resources of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, we are able to provide corporate training in a diversity of areas, such as business and management skills, languages, legal knowledge, interviewing and public speaking.
In addition to government departments in the Mainland and HKSAR, we have also served the training needs of many sizable organisations from almost every sector of the community, including those in finance, social welfare, education, manufacturing and the trades, etc.
A good balance between theory and practice is always a prerequisite for effective learning, especially in the area of corporate training. The Academy has thus developed a good pool of trainers from the academic, industry and training fi elds.
